WARM – UP: 3’

1. Look at this picture and say who he is?

-T asks Ss to work in groups to discuss the questions.
-T goes around the class and observes the activity.

Task 2: Write a biography

-T asks Ss to read Armstrong’s biography again and work individually to write a paragraph of Neil Armstrong.
- show poster with a biography’s form
- say that we will write the sentences with correct subjects, move the time to the end of each sentence, use prepositions correctly
- ask Ss to pay attention to the verb tenses in each sentence
+The simple past is used to talk about an event that happened and finished in the past
+The simple present is used to describe facts
+ The passive voice is used occasionally in the biography
+ Preposition
-T sets the limited time
-T goes around the class and offers help.
-T calls on two Ss to go to the board to write down their work. Together with other Ss, T finds down mistakes and corrects them.
-T gives feedback, pointing out some common mistakes made by Ss when doing this writing task

Task 2: Write a biography
Suggested paragraph:
Neil Armstrong is an American astronaut. He is known as the first person to walk on the moon. He was born on 5th August in 1930 in Wapokoneta, Ohio. He was a pilot in United States Navy from 1949 to 1952. Neil Armstrong received his B. S from Purdue University in 1955. In 1962, he joined the NASA astronaut program. On 20th July, 1969, he became the first human to step on the Moon’s surface. He received his M.S from the University of Southern California in 1970. He resigned from NASA a year later. From 1971 to 1979, Neil Armstrong taught in the University of Cincinnati.
