I/ AIM: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read an arrangement for information. At that time, they can talk about a plan to do something.
II/ LANGUAGE CONTENT:
Vocabulary: call, answer the phone.
* Expressions: - Can I speak to Lan? – I’m sorry. She’s out.
Grammar: Review: Present progressive tense and future simple tense.

Introduction:
* Teacher says:
- You want to speak to someone but he or she is out. You pick up the phone and how you answer the phone.
The lesson today will help you learn
more when talking on the phone.
Presentation picture:
*Teacher says then ask:
- They are Tam and Phong. Who is calling?
(Tam)
- Who is answering the phone?
(Phong)
- How do you know?
- Phong picks up the phone and says “Hello” first. – Tam replies that “Hello.” “Is this Phong?”
Teacher asks:
- What do the words and expressions mean in Vietnamese?
- Students listen and repeat the words chorally and individually correctly.
What and where
Teacher helps students remember the key words.
Rub out and remember dialogue:
- How long will the party last?
- It will last two hours/ till seven.
Teacher helps students recite the
dialogue. Then she writes them on the board. Teacher makes the expressions and the grammar clear.
Students write the grammar point into
their notebooks.
Situation: You are going to hear the
conversation on the phone between Lan and Nga. Before listening, choose the options you think.
Teacher plays the tape twice. Students
listen and correct their prediction.
Teacher notices the difficulties when
listening: *The voices (Lan/ Nga);
*Whose house?
*Key word: take a bus / go by bus
Students write the sentences from the
information they hear.
Teacher reminds them of future simple
tense with “Will”
Situation: You are going to read the
conversation between a Phong and Han. They are talking on the phone. Before reading, indentify who is calling and who is answering the phone.
Correction: Students read the dialogue
for the first time, then they correct the false sentences
How to identify the information:
Han: Hello. This is 8 674 758.
Phong: Hello. Is that Lan?
Han: This is my sister, Han. Who’s calling?
Phong: This is Phong. Can I speak to Lan?
Teacher guides students read the
dialogue again, and then they underline the key words for the questions with “Who” and “When” in the grid.
Five of them write the full answers on
the board. Teacher corrects their writing.
Teacher takes a note of present
progressive tense with “is calling, is answering, is talking” in questions and answers.
