Period 1 – Grade 7 – class 7/3, 7/4
UNIT 3: COMMUNITY SERVICE (Speaking)
I. Objective:
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able speak about how to do some volunteer activities through your own ideas/

III. Teach method:
Speaking, group work, team work
IV. Teaching aids:
Textbook, cassette, tape, pictures.
V. Procedure:

1. Warm-up
- Greetings
- Watch a video about volunteer’s activities
-
2. New activities:
a) Ask questions: Some any volunteer’s activities that they know? b) Work in groups: (page 32)
- Ask students to work and discuss with your friends about some volunteer activities.
- Ask 1 students to raise the board for result.
c) Presentations: Ask 1 students to hold the board and present with your friends.
3. Consolidation:
- Ask students to say again about some volunteer activities by using the opening sentences. “There are many ways to do some volunteer activities”
Ex: There are many ways to do some volunteer activities. To raise money, we could make postcards and sell them.
- Call on one student and speak to your friends about 3 volunteer activity.
-Correct the mistakes if necessary.
- Help students to answer question.








- Help native teachers to give some ideas for volunteer activities.



-Ask student a question after student’s presentation.

-Watch the video





- Ask T’s questions.

- Discuss with your friends and write some ideas





- Listen to your friends and ask some questions or give comments.



- Practice speaking with your friends.


Period 2 – Grade 7 – class 7/3, 7/4

II. Language content: Past simple, Present perfect, Use “because” for giving reasons
III. Teach method:
Speaking, group work, team work
IV. Teaching aids:
Textbook, cassette, tape, pictures.
V. Procedure:
Native teacher’s activities

Student’s activities

1. Warm-up
- Greetings
- Review previous lesson: What volunteer activities did we know last time?

2. New activities
a) Listening discussion: Discuss the following questions:
* Who do you think benefits from volunteer work?
* How do people benefit from volunteer work?
b) Exercise 2 (page 33)
- Ask students to guess what Mai and Phuc will talk about.
- Play the recording and elicit from Ss the gist of this recording.
- Play the recording twice and have Ss answer the questions
























c) Exercise 3 (page 33):
Play the recording again and let Ss fill in the blanks.
- Confirm and correct their answers.
3. Consolidation:
- Game: Remember the volunteer activities.
+ Ask 4 students for each team to guess on the board.


- Call student to answer question.










- Help native teachers to give some ideas for discuss activities.




- Ask students to listen the recording.
- Show the answer to students.
*Key answer:
Phuc does volunteer work because he thinks it makes a difference in the community.
Phuc feels more self-confident because he has made new friends.
The reporter thinks Phuc is confident because Phuc has answered the interview very well.
Mai thinks volunteering is special because she can help others, and because she can see how happy the street children are when they learn.
