- Explain that you are going to give
instructions. If the instruction begins with the
words Simon says …, students must do as you
say. If not, they should stand still and wait for
the next instruction. Any student who gets this
wrong is out of the game and has to sit down.
- Give an instruction, e.g. Simons says Stand
up, please!
- Intermittently insert an instruction which is
not preceded by Simon says …, e.g. Open your
book! to see which students are really paying
attention.
- Continue the game until there is one winner
left standing, or a group of winners if you
prefer.

TEACHER'S ACTIVITIES
Game: “Musical chairs”
- Tell students how the game is played. Give an
example.
- Have students sit on their seats.
- Play music and ask them to move around.
- Take away two chairs and suddenly stop
music. Have students sit on any chairs. The two
students who have no chairs to sit on will make
questions and answers.
e.g. Student A: Do you have a pencil?
Student B: Yes, I do.
- Swap roles and continue.

STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES
- Listen to the teacher's instructions.

- Student B answers the question.
