Period 1

LESSON 1:

Listen and act

1. Preparation
- Animal sounds: cow, dog, cat, duck, bunny (little rabbit).
2. Procedure

 Warm up
- Ask the whole class to go round and round while singing. When the teacher says: Jump!,
the children will do as the teacher's order. Similarly, the teacher says: Run! (or Clap!),
the children will run (or clap) correspondingly. When the teacher says: Monster!, the
children are supposed to sit down right away. Whoever don't, the monster will bring him/
her away.

 Do activities
- Ask the children to open pp.22-28, Eduplay Friends 3A (Pupil's Book).
o Step 1: (page 22) Talk with the children about the place and animals they can see. The
children practice with the teacher first, and practice with each other later.
For example:
Child-1: What's this?
Child-2: It's a farm.
Teacher: Tran Thi Bich Thuy

Child-3: Let's count the animals.
Child-4: One cow, one bunny, one cat, one dog and one duck.
o Step 2: Let the children listen to the animal sounds first. Then ask them to imitate. For
example:
Child: This is a cow. Listen, it says: Moo! Moo!
Child: This is a bunny. Listen, it says: Uuu! Uuu!
Child: This is a cat. Listen, it says: Miaow! Miaow!
Child: This is a dog. Listen, it says: Woof! Woof!
Child: This is a duck. Listen, it says: Quack! Quack!
o Step 3: (page 23) Guide two children to ask and answer:
Child-1: Oh, cows. How many cows?
Child-2: Six cows.
Child-1: Oh, many cows.
o Step 4: (page 24) Guide two children to ask and answer:
Child-1: Oh, ducks. How many ducks?
Child-2: Seven ducks.
Child-1: Oh, many ducks.
o Step 5: Guide each pair of children to ask and answer (as above) with different animals:
cats (page 25), dogs (page 26) and bunnies (page 27).
o Step 6: Guide two children to make a conversation as on page 28, Eduplay Friends 3A
(Pupil's Book).
Child-1: What's this?
Child-2: It's a farm.
Child-1: Let's count the animals.
Child-2: One cow, one bunny, one dog, two cats and two ducks
3. Wrap up
- Review the animal words; encourage the children to say aloud the words to end the

lesson.

LESSON 2:

Role play

1. Preparation
- Flashcard of a cow, duck, cat, dog, bunny; a board and a marker.
- Face masks or hats of farm animals.
2. Procedure

 Warm up

- Let the children sing a song about the animals and dance to the music.

 Do activities
Activity 1: Game: I like…
o Step 1: Use the marker to divide the board into 5 columns and write down 5 words:
cow, duck, cat, dog, bunny (each word in one column).
o Step 2: Ask the children to take turn to put a tick on the column of the animal they like
and say it aloud. For example: I like cows.
o Step 3: When all the children finish putting a tick, the teacher and the children count to
see which one is the favourite animal.
Activity 2: Role play
o Step 1: Ask the children to pick a face mask or a hat of the animal they like. For
example: I like ducks.
o Step 2: The teacher plays the role of a duck and introduces about himself/ herself. For
example: Hi! I'm a duck. I can say “Quack! Quack!”.
o Step 3: Ask the children to play the role of… (animals they like) and go around the
classroom (as a farm) and introduce about themselves.
3. Wrap up
- Ask the children to say the animal words again to end the lesson.
