Period 1 STARTER. HELLO! (Lesson 1)
week 1



I.Objective:
* By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- Give and respond to greetings and introductions,
- Speaking skills

1. Introduction
Say hello and introduce name

- Say Hello to Ss and elicit Hello in response.
- Ask every child to say Hello to the other children. Say My name’s…Ask a child, What’s your name?
- Encourage children to ask each other’s names
- Show the flashcards and say the names of the characters.
- Show a flashcard, ask two groups to ask and answer



- Say “Hello”
1. Hello

- Pair work

- Repeat

- Two groups:
Group 1: What’s your name?
Group 2: My name is ……

2. Development
Listen and practice

* Recording 1:
- Ask Ss to point to the characters and say the names.
- Play the first part of the recording and model pointing to the pictures
- Play again and give the flashcards to four children.
* Recording 2:


- Give each group a character’s name and ask them to stand up when they hear their name.
* Recording 3:
Use the Starter Poster and point to the characters and ask, Who’s this?
- Play the recording and point to the pictures.
- Play it again and ask children to point to the pictures


- Say the names
2. What’s your name?
My name’s ……..
- Listen and do the same

- Stand up when they hear their character’s name.

- Listen and chant along – then do again without recording.
- Four groups





- Follow the words as they listen in their Class Books.


3. Consolidation
Tell the name

- Ask Ss: What’s your name?

1. Introduction
Greeting and repeat the story

- Encourage Ss to greet each other
- Show the flashcards again and elicit the names of the characters.
- Show the story poster again and ask Ss to repeat the story.
- Play recording 3 again
- Get Ss to do the actions as they say the story.

- Say hello to their friends
- Say the names



- Listen and repeat
- Do the action

2. Development
Ask and answer the name

- Show children opening the Class Book to page 5.
Say Look at the pictures, indicating the pictures of the boys.
- Read and model the dialogue,
- Pause for children to repeat.
Read the dialogue with one of the stronger students
- Put Ss in pairs to practice it themselves.

* Practice:
A: Hello. What’s your name?
B: My name is Pete

3. Consolidation
Vocabulary practice

- Do exercise 1,2.
- Put students in pairs to.
* Role play:
- Ask Ss to work with a different partner. Have volunteers act out the dialogue in front of the class.

- Pair work
- Practice the story

- Practice the dialogue from Exercise again, but this time substituting their own names. Then they shut their books and do it from memory.

4. Homework:
* Old lesson: say hello, tell tne name, exercise 1,2 (page 5
