A. ASKING THE WAY (A. 3)
I. Objectives:
1. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude:
a. Knowledge:
- Asking for and giving directions to some places.
- Vocabulary: - Words related to places
- Expression for asking for and giving directions.
- Grammar: - Polite request with: “Could you …?”
b. Skills: - listening, speaking, reading and writing
c. Attitude: - Asking for and giving directions to some places.
- Work hard

1. Teacher: lesson plane, book, color chalks, pictures
2. Students: books, notebooks, pen, ruler …

1. Warm up (5’) * Guessing the words.

Teacher’s and Ss’ activities
Content

- T divides the class into two teams to play game “guessing the words”.
- Ss listen and find out the words that teacher says.
- T corrects and gives marks if necessary.


1. A place where you can buy everything (Supermarket)
2. A place you can buy books (Bookstore)
3. A place you can send letters (Post office)
4. A place where you can come to eat (Restaurant)
5. A place where you can come to see the movies (Movie theater)


2. Knowledge formation activities (36’)
- T introduces new lesson, Ss listen.
- T reminds prepositions of position and some words in the map
- T reads, Ss listen and repeat.
A3. Look at this street map. Practice the dialogue with a partner.
* Ss ask for and give directions to some places.
- Prepositions of position: between, opposite, in front of, behind, next to, near..


- T shows the street map on page 81 gives model sentences.

- Ss inform the structure used to ask for and give direction.
- T asks Ss to look at the street map and practice by asking and answering the positions of the places.
- T checks and corrects the mistakes.
- T asks Ss to look at the map above.
- T has Ss listen twice.
- T has Ss listen again -> gives corrections.

* Model sentence:
Where is the ……? -> It’s between the …and the….
-> It’s opposite the……..
Ex: Where is the bank?
-> The bank is between the hotel and the restaurant. It’s opposite the hospital.
Ex: Where is the police station?
-> It’s between the post office and the museum.
* Now listen and write the places.
a. Go straight ahead to the second street. Turn left. What is on the right?
b. Go Straight ahead. Turn right into the first street. What is on the left next to the restaurant?
c. What is on your left?
d. Go the second street. Turn right. What is opposite the hotel?
e. What is on your right?
* Answer:
a. souvenir shop; b. shoe store
c. hotel; d. drugstore e. hospital


3. Production: 4’
- T asks Ss to ask and answer about “Where is the ……..?”
- T calls on some pairs to practice before class.
