    LESSON: READING

    I.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
    + Improve their reading skills: guessing meaning in the context, scanning for specific information about hobbies
    + Speak about the hobbies
    II. Teaching Aids: Textbook, whiteboard markers, projector

    I.WARM-UP
    Ask students to divide class into 4 groups to watch the video and try to remember the activities in the video as much as possible
    Ask students to write down the answers on the paper
    Check the answers







    “ Yes, these are many activities which we can do on your free time, so who can tell me what is the topic of the lesson today”
    “ yes, today we will study unit 13 Hobbies”
    II. PRE-READING
    Ask students the question “ what do you often do in your free time?”
    Instruct students to answer the question
    “ That are your hobbies, so today we will read a passage to know about the hobbies of a friend”
    “ Before we read the passage, we will do task 1 to get more vocabulary”
    Task 1: Matching- match the word with suitable picture

    Ask students to work in pairs to do this task
    Ask some students to give the answers
    Check and correct

    Instruct students to practice pronouncing some vocabulary and ask them to write down these vocabulary
    III.WHILE-READING
    “To know about the first hobbies of writer we will do task 3”
    Task 3: Read the passage to decide whether the statements are true or false (handouts)
    Ask students to work in pairs to do this task
    Ask students to give the answers and correct the sentences if they are incorrect.
    Check and correct
    The writer’s first hobby is playing basketball.
    The writer is an accomplished guitarist.
    The writer have not been successful at singing while playing the guitar
    The writer admires his uncle very much because he is very good at accompanying people singing withhis guitar.
    “ How about the second and the third hobby of the writer, we will move to task 4 to get more information about them”
    Task 4. Ask and answer the questions
    Ask students to underline the key words in each of question
    Ask students to work in pairs to ask and answer the questions


    What is the writer’s second hobby?

    Where does the writer collect a variety of little fish?



    Where does he collect the stamps?

    What does the writer do with the less common stamps and with the common ones?


    What is the writer’s feeling when he can be able to do his hobbies?



    “ Now, we will practice a dialogue to talk about your hobbies”
    IV.POST-READING
    Ask students to work in pairs to practice the dialogue to talk about their hobby
    Instruct students to practice
    What is your hobby B?
    My hobby is listening to music/ playing soccer/ baking/ eating/ sleeping…..
    When do you often do it?
    I like listening to music/ playing soccer…. when I have free time/ after the tired times/……..
    Why do you like listening to music/ playing soccer….?
    I like listening to music/ playing soccer/…because it helps me relax very well/ become stronger/ entertain
    V. HOMEWORK
    Prepare the new lesson- speaking

    
    Work in 4 groups to watch the video and try to remember the activities in the video as much as possible
    Write down the answers on the paper
