    Lesson 2:skills

    I. OBJECTIVES
    - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to revise the knowledge they have learnt from Units 7 to 9:
    + Ask about and describe different festivals.
    + Read for specific information about afilm festival.
    + Listen to get specific information about a festival
    + Write a reply email.
    1. Language focus:
    +Vocabularies: The words related to the topic of Unit 7-8-9.
    +Structures:- H/Wh-questions: review
    - Adverbial phrases
    - Word stress (two syllables)
    2. Anticipated problems:
    - Ss may get mistakes when they do exercises.
    Ss might be get stuck with some new words while reading the dialogue and therefore be unable to find answers to detailed questions
    Ss might not understand teacher’s instructions.
    Technology (computer/ projector) won’t be working.
    3. Attitude: Ss are excited about the lesson and take part in activities heartily.
    4. Living skills: Ss can develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

    Tintroduces about herself then asks some questions:
    + How are you?
    + What’s the weather like today?
    T shows this picture on the screen and lets Ss look at it.

    T asks:
    + What is this? (It’s a cup.)
    + Who can receive this cup? (People who win the Oscars.)
    T says: OK, so to get more information about Oscars award and revise the knowledge that you had learned from Unit 7 to Unit 9, we will move to Review 3 - Lesson 2: Skills.
    T writes down the title of lesson on the board.

    Reading:
    * Task 1: Read the passage. Match the headings
    in the box with the paragraphs.
    - T gives Ss some tips to do this kind of reading text: You should read the headings first then read the paragraph quickly, find the main point of each paragraph by finding topic sentence.
    -T requires Ss to read the passage quickly and match the headings with the paragraphs in 2 minutes.
    - T lets Ss compare their answers with a partner before giving the answers.
    - T confirms the correct answers.
