I. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES :
+ Language content:
- To help the sts understand the passage about competitions .
- To enable them master the extensive reading, passage comprehension, intensive reading
+ Language function:
- By the end of the leson, the sts will be able to help the sts to train the reading skills.
+ Educational aim :
- To educate the sts to have the enthusiasm in taking part in activities at school .
1. Language:
a. Vocabulary: competition, representative, stimulate, spirit, sponsor, judge, announce, participation
b. Structure :
2. Skills: Integrated skills, especially reading
3.Education factor : To educate the sts to take part in activities at school enthusiastically.
II.TEACHER AND STUDENTS’ PREPARATION :
1. Method : Communicative approach
2. Techniques : Translation, explanation, game, pair work, group work.
3. Materials needed : textbook; pictures; chalks;……
4. Students’ preparation: To review the structures : Let’s ….; The simple past .

III. PROCEDURE IN CLASS:
1. Stabilization: 2ms
a. Warm – up : makes greeting
b. Checking absence : asks the monitor
2.Checking up the previous knowledge : ( 5ms)
- Asks sts to complete the second sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the first one , using the words given .

 I. Lead – in:
- - Hangs the pictures on the board and asks the sts to work in pairs to match the pictures and the information below:
- Checks the sts’ work:
a. Quiz: “ Road to Mount Olympia”
b. “London Marathon”
c. Sao Mai Television Singing Contest
d. Olympic Games
- Asks the sts some questions :
+ What are these photos about?

- Leads to the new lesson
II. Pre –reading :
- - Asks sts to work in pairs and answer the following questions
1. Do you like taking part in competitions like these? Why/ why not?
2. Do you hope to win a competition? If so, which competition do you like to win?
3. Is winning the most important thing in a competition? Why/why not?
- - Introduces some new words .
+ Representative(n): the person who represents for a group or organization
+ Stimulate(V)= motivate
+ Spirit (n) (explanation)
+ Sponsor(n)(explanation and example)
+ Judge(n) = referee
+ Announce(v): state
+ Participation(n): some one who takes part in a competition
III. While –reading :
Task 1:
- - Asks the sts to read the letter in silence in 5ms and do the task 1 .
- - Explains the aim of the task
- - Asks the sts to work in pairs to discuss the answer .
- - Calls some sts to read their answer in front of the class .
- - Correct and gives the feedback
Task 2:
- - Asks the sts to work in pairs to ask and answer the questions in task 2
- - Calls some sts to give their answers .
- - Corrects and present the keys on the board .



















Task 3: Complete the sentences
- - Asks sts to work in groups
- - Walks around and prompts
- - Asks Sts to go to the board and write .
